This Whipped Ricotta Honey Toast is my current obsession, and it can be yours too with just 5 ingredients and under 10 minutes to make.
Move over avocado toast (did I just say that??). There’s a new creamy, dreamy, super satisfying toast combo in town. Enter: Whipped Ricotta Honey Toast. This is going to be your new favorite breakfast or snack, mark my words. I mean, there is just something so lush about the salty, light ricotta, topped with the sweet honey. Plus, the walnuts sprinkled on top add a nice crunch. Undoubtedly, this is one of the best, easiest recipes.
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 teaspoons honey + more for topping
- 4 slices gluten-free bread
- 2 tablespoons crushed walnuts
- sea salt + freshly cracked black pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
- 1. Place ricotta cheese, 2 teaspoons of honey and salt in food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy consistency
- 2. Toast the bread
- 3. Spread whipped ricotta on each slide of bread
- 4. Season with salt and pepper
- 5. Add crushed walnuts and drizzle with honey
Whipped ricotta options
- You can use ricotta cheese with any fat content, however I recommend using full fat of 2% for best flavor.
- Generally, I recommend using pure, organic unfiltered honey.
- Manuka honey is also great as it has added health benefits, but it does have a more distinct flavor
Bread options:
In this case, you can use whatever bread you like – gluten-free or not! For this toast I used Canyon Bakehouse gluten-free bread.
If you want, then you could also use smaller crostini bread and make this recipe for a delicious appetizer.
Other topping ideas:
- fresh fruit like strawberries or sliced pair
- fresh or dried figs
- prosciutto
- roasted butternut squash
- pomegranate seeds
